อาการปวดไหล่นับว่าเป็นปัญหาอย่างหนึ่งในผุ้ที่มีอายุตั้งแต่ 40 ปี ขึ้นไป สาเหตุของอาการปวดไหล่เกิดได้หลายอย่างตั้งแต่ การเกิดการเสื่อมของเส้นเอ้นบริเวณไหล่ การเสื่อมของกระดูกข้อต่อบริเวณไหล่ ในบางครั้งอาจเกิดจากการมีแคลเซียมในบริเวณของเส้นเอ็นที่บริเวณหัวไหล่ ซึ่งมีผลทำให้ผู้ป่วยมีอาการปวดเพิ่มมากขึ้น ผมมีตัวอย่างผู้ป่วยที่มีอาการปวดไหล่ขวาเรื้อรังมานานประมาณ 1 เดือน มีอาการปวดมาก ขยับไหล่ไม่ได้เลย เวลาขยับจะมีอาการปวดมาก  3 วันนี้ผู้ป่วยมีอาการปวดมากๆ แม้กระทั่งนั่งอยู่เฉยๆ

อาการปวดไหล่นับว่าเป็นปัญหาอย่างหนึ่งในผู้ที่มีอายุตั้งแต่ 40 ปี ขึ้นไป สาเหตุของอาการปวดไหล่เกิดได้หลายอย่างตั้งแต่ การเกิดการเสื่อมของเส้นเอ้นบริเวณไหล่ การเสื่อมของกระดูกข้อต่อบริเวณไหล่ ในบางครั้งอาจเกิดจากการมีแคลเซียมในบริเวณของเส้นเอ็นที่บริเวณหัวไหล่ ซึ่งมีผลทำให้ผู้ป่วยมีอาการปวดเพิ่มมากขึ้น ผมมีตัวอย่างผู้ป่วยที่มีอาการปวดไหล่ขวาเรื้อรังมานานประมาณ 1 เดือน มีอาการปวดมาก ขยับไหล่ไม่ได้เลย เวลาขยับจะมีอาการปวดมาก  3 วันนี้ผู้ป่วยมีอาการปวดมากๆ แม้กระทั่งนั่งอยู่เฉยๆ  จากการตรวจร่างกายพบว่าผู้ป่วยไม่สามารถขยับไหล่ได้ เวลาขยับจะมีอาการปวดเพิ่มมากขึ้นอย่างมาก

(สำหรับแพทย์) PE : limit ROM of right shoulder, cannot elevate upper extremity due to pain even abduction.
จึงได้ทำการส่งภาพทางรังสี

จากภาพทางรังสีพบว่ามีก้อนหินปูนอยู่ที่บริเวณไหล่ขวาภายใน เส้นเอ็น ได้รับการวินิจฉัยว่าเป็น เส้นเอ็นอักเสบจากหินปูน (calcific tendinitis) ภาพรังสีแสดงของ abnormal deposition of calcium in supraspinatus tendon
จากนั้นได้ทำการตรวจผู้ป่วยด้วยคลื่นเสียงความถี่สูง (ultrasound) พบมีลักษณะของก้อนหินปูน

ได้ทำการรักษาด้วยการฉีดยาสเตียรอยด์เข้าไปในตำแหน่งที่แคลเซียมเกาะ โดยใช้เครื่องเสียงความถี่สูงเป็นตัวระบุตำแหน่งที่ฉีด มีผลช่วยลดอาการปวดที่บริเวณไหล่ได้เป็นอย่างมาก  หลังฉีดยาอาการปวดลดลงเป็นอย่างมาก
